The last working windmill in the Vendée opens its doors again to the public from 1 May to 1 September 2013. It can be seen for miles around as it sits on top of the highest point of Les Herbiers, the Alouettes Hill. This windmill has been grinding flour since the 16th century and is just one of the many local tourist attractions that’s open during the summer, close to Château de Puybelliard.
This month you can visit the working windmill every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday from 10am to 12.30 pm and again from 2 pm to 6 pm. From June until 1 September the windmill is open every day the same times as May. While at the height of summer it is open from 10 am until 7 pm.
When you visit the working windmill you will also be experience the amazing views of the Vendéen countryside.
